The motivation for this book was the realization many years ago, that my secondary school writing skill was not enough to see me through my first two years in the university, as I witnessed a free fall in my grades. I was however fortunate to run into a book on writing literary essays, which transformed my poor writing skill and since then I have never failed any writing test! This is the same experience I have always wanted to impart throughout my teaching career, that essay writing is an art, rather than a mere creative impulse and as such, could be learnt and taught. Writing therefore has a basic process, which if followed diligently would make the experience a pleasurable and easy one. This is the message of this book.
